2012 is starting out to be a pretty great year for me musically.
I traded in some of my old gear and got a new acrylic drum kit made by Drum craft. I was going to get a Sonor birch kit, which is pretty much a dream of mine. But when I went to Chicago Drum Exchange these drum caught my eye.

I have always had a thing for ludwig vistalite kits. Watching John Bonham rock out his vistalite in "The Song Remains The Same" was pretty much the coolest thing I had ever seen when I watched it for the first time at 16. Once I sat behind this kit I realized I had to have it. The shells are seamless and Drumcraft uses double cut bearing edges so they are super easy to tune. I'm sure I'm going to be using this kit for a long time.
I have joined two new projects this year. First is a band called The Friendly Lens. It's kind of an Indy pop rock band. Little bit of everything mixed in. Modern Indy pop tunes with a little 90s twist. We are writing new songs and plan to record them soon. We will be playing Summerfest in July. I'll make sure and post the date as soon as I get a confirmation..
The second band is called Stranger. This band is more on the mellow side. Indy tunes ala Mumford & Sons and Cold War Kids. We are working on arranging getting a set down so we can book some gigs soon. We are currently looking for a bass player to finish out the lineup.
